 Assignment Week #1 Literacy History

My name is Yuliet Rentería, I am from Venezuela. I studied all of Primary and Secondary in Venezuela and I am currently a student at New Jersey City University.

A brief history!!

My name is Yuliet Renteria, I had the opportunity to go to school, thanks to my parents, for being an educated and professional person. In class I didn't understand well, but I really liked to play in class. The teacher recommended my parents to work together to help me.

The first and second grades were so terrible for me, the teacher and my parents helped me, but studying was very uninteresting for me. I can go to another grade because I don't want to be the last and I don't want to repeat the grade again. I was my own inspiration to grow up in school because I didn't want to be an illiterate person. I think that at that time in my first years of school there was not much help or methods that could be more interesting to learn to read, write or listen well. orientation.

I remember a book called Coquito made in Venezuela. This book was one of the few books that I liked to learn how to read and how to make short sentences. The book had many illustrations and drawings that made me memorize the word. I used magazines or dictionaries for the children to learn to read and write.

Today there are better educational methods, tools and equipment to teach children to create, engage, think and learn new knowledge and academic skills.

It is very pleasing and morally it feels good to have the courage to say I am a person who reads and writes thanks to the teachers and my parents who had so much patience and heart, because not everyone is lucky enough to go to school to learn.

It is very sad not knowing how to write your name or how to read. In the state where I lived in Venezuela there were always schools open at night so that people could go to take free literacy classes from the government for young people who work in the morning and for adults who wanted to learn to read and write so that they could continue their academic training, the class schedule was from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Today there are better educational methods, tools and equipment to teach children to care, participate, think and learn new knowledge and academic skills. I graduated from high school with good grades. In my native country Venezuela in 1993.

Today I am a student at NJCU University, I had the opportunity to be admitted and now I am realizing my dream of being a Professional.
